And Jesus came and spoke to them saying, ‘All power (authority) has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.    Matthew 28:18. ‘Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.’  John 20:21

Jesus says in the above verses, I am sending you, the same way the Father sent me

I know you have heard someone ask that question sarcastically…”Who died and left you in charge?” Well, as a believer, Jesus did! He died and left us in charge. When He was in the world He was the Light of the world, but now He says that we are the light of the world. We are what He was. He said that ALL authority had been ‘given’ to Him, both in heaven and in earth.

Who gave it to Him? The Father! Jesus also says that ‘as the Father has sent Me, I also send you’. How did the Father send Him? With all authority. That is clearly stated and clearly taught in scripture. It is not boastful to believe that, it is scriptural. He died and left us in charge. If that is not true, then what is? Think about it. If we are not “in charge” as His ambassadors, who is? If we don’t have authority, who does?

HE DID AND HE DOES

There are three basic belief categories. There some “Christians” who believe Jesus never did miracles and that He does no miracles today. Sadly, that is a much larger group than it should be. He didn’t and He doesn’t.

The second group believes that Jesus did miracles but they no longer happen today. This is doubtless the largest group. This category is fueled by human logic and fear of being seen as spiritually ignorant. He did but He doesn’t.

The third group believes that Jesus did miracles and that they are still happening today. I am in that group. He did and He does. When you have experienced miracles it would be very difficult to not believe in them. When you read the New Testament and God’s Word says they will continue how then can you not believe and yet say you believe the Word of God?

We see miracles in our ministry on a regular basis. There are hundreds of testimonies. I suppose if you do not believe miracles happen, then they most likely will not, because God is a “Faith” God and it is impossible to please Him apart from faith.

But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him”. Hebrews 11:6

So, clearly, if you cannot place faith in Him and in His Word, then it is not possible to please Him. But He rewards faith! You see, I believe there is authority in the Name of Jesus and that my faith in that Name is rewarded by God. I believe He did and He does. I believe He died and left us in charge.

Remember the Roman centurion who wanted Jesus to heal his servant, (Luke 7:1-10)? Jesus said He had never seen such faith in all of Israel. The man told Jesus that He understood authority. He comprehended that Jesus could simply speak the word and the sickness would have to go. Jesus called that ‘great faith’. Understanding authority is great faith.

The Name of Jesus is recognized authority in heaven and earth. It is in His Name that every knee will bow. It is in His Name that men might be saved. It s the only Name given among men that will bring salvation.

Acts 4:12 “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

It is HIS Name that is above every name!

Phil. 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

Eph. 1:21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:

In John 16 Jesus said, “Hither to you have asked nothing in My Name…” Up until now, He says, it was that you looked for the Messiah, now I am here, now My Name is exalted, My Name will be honored by God the Father. Ask in My Name, act in My Name!

“Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” John 14:11-14

The Name of Jesus Christ is authority that is far above any principality, power, might or dominion. Far above all sickness and disease, disorders, fears, and works of demon powers. I believe He did and He does! I believe He died and left us in charge. It is absolute recognized authority in heaven and earth.

However, please follow this truth carefully...it is not authority if demon powers have been granted legal rights! Where there is un-confessed sin there  is also a legal right and that must be removed. It must be canceled through confession.  The cleansing Blood of Jesus must be applied in order to remove the legal consent of demons including sickness and disease. (No, not all sickness is demons).

There are many legal rights that a demon may have to someone’s life, but none that cannot be cancelled through confession, denunciation, renunciation etc. Generational sins, oaths, vows, pledges and ceremonies of secret societies, spoken words, and believing a lie are also rights that evil spirits may have in our lives. Jesus died and left us in charge!  If you don’t take charge someone or something else will.

Don’t step outside your realm of authority. Our authority has to do with what is ours and never extends to other people. Especially, do not attempt to cast down demon powers in the heavenlies. This is way outside our realm of authority. I have seen many people get themselves in serious trouble doing this.  Michael the archangel, dared not bringing a railing accusation against the devil but referred it to God. (Jude 1:11). Take charge of your life, your family, your ’stuff’. “Take, no thought for tomorrow...sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” (Matthew 6:34)

Don’t live in the past and don’t fear tomorrow. These are also doorways for demons. Speak truth, agree with God’s Word, don’t take anything off the demons. Jesus died and left us in charge.

Just for Jesus,

Don
